Between the 12th and 16th of September this year, the Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) will promote the Sport Integrity Week 2022 (#SIW2022), an annual event that brings together the main world leaders in the sport. The novelty for this third edition is that the event will be in person, hosted by Nova School of Business & Economics, in Cascais, Portugal.
As a fundamental part of the fight for integrity in Brazilian sport, Pacto Pelo Esporte will be represented by Hugo Passarelli, Vice President, and by Daniela Castro, Executive Director of Pacto and COO (Chief Operating Officer) of SIGA LATIN AMERICA. Both will be speakers at #SIW2022 and will address topics such as the development of governance practices in the Brazilian sports market, how it emerged and the importance of a voluntary agreement between the 41 largest sponsoring companies of national sport and the current scenario with the union between SIGA and Pact for Sport for the foundation of SIGA LA. According to Daniela:
“We work hard to promote integrity and good governance in Brazilian sport and for us it is very gratifying to be able to participate in the biggest event in the world in this area and show what Pact for Sport does and how much Brazil has evolved in this field. We are a private agreement between the biggest sponsoring companies of Brazilian sport. The Pact is a unique initiative in the world, as well as our expertise, and we want to share this case with other countries in the world and mobilize new companies.”
For the Vice President of the Pact for Sport, Hugo Passarelli Scott, participating in #SIW2022 shows the global importance of the work of the private agreement. In Hugo’s words:
“A few weeks ago we announced the partnership with SIGA for the launch of SIGA LA. We are now invited to speak about the Pact for Sport case at the world’s largest event on integrity in sport. I believe they are demonstrations of the importance that the Pact has in this constant battle for integrity, transparency and good governance practices in sport.”
Representatives from organizations such as UEFA and La Liga, executives from companies that are signatories of the Pact for Sport, such as Mastercard, Ernst & Young, Sicredi, Ambiel Advogados, in addition to the São Paulo Football Federation, will also be present at the event. Instituto Península will participate in one of the meeting’s tables and will receive a tribute that will be paid to João Paulo Diniz.
