if you are following The Dragon’s House on HBO/HBO Max, you already know that in the episode shown this past Sunday, 10 years have passed. This means that there was a change of the main female characters – plus a few others. The episode was not a major highlight, apart from the dragon’s reluctance to heed Dracarys’ call. It was exciting. But it was interesting to see the change of the actresses, who are no longer friends to be great adversaries. And the most striking of all turned out to be the incredible similarity between them.
But where do you know the two new Rhaenyra and Alicent from?
Rhaenyra – Milly Alcock/ Emma D’Arcy
In the first episodes of The Dragon’s Housewith Rhaenyra as a teenager, the role was played by Milly Alcock of Account Settlement. The series has been on Netflix for a while, but is now out of print. Milly surprised in the role, and was successful among fans. But now, after 10 years have passed in the story, she has been replaced by Emma D’Arcy. Emma was recently on the series Truth Seekers, available on Prime Video. It was also seen in Wanderlust (Netflix) and also in a participation in Hanna (First Video).
Alicent – Emily Carey / Olivia Cooke
In the first few episodes, sweet Alicent was played by Emily Carey. She started her career as a girl, and she excelled doing child versions of Wonder Woman and Lara Croft in the recent Tomb Raider. As a teenager, he played Mika in the Netflix series, nobody sent. For Alicent’s change, from a sweet young woman to a wounded woman willing to fight for the throne, they called Olivia Cooke. It’s strange to realize that until yesterday, Olivia played the role of a teenager in Number 1 player, by Steven Spielberg (HBO Max). Haha! the fans of Bates Motel (Globoplay) will also remember her as Emma Decody. Olivia also played the lead role in the English miniseries Vanity Fair (not available here) and participated in the award-winning film The sound of silence (First Video).
And the future?
There is also the possibility that Milly and Emily will return in flashbacks. There are scenes that were not used, such as a conversation between the two young women before Alicent’s marriage to the king. And Milly Alcock herself has stated in interviews that there have been talks about a return of the younger versions of Rhaenyra from Alicent in Season 2 of the series. However, the actress has no idea if this will actually happen.
