I’ve already said here that I really like Apple TV Plus. Despite having a program without many titles, everything I see there is always of great quality. And it’s also the cheapest of the streams (still 9.90). And now, the service has announced its October releases. In addition to new seasons of series like Acapulco e The Ghost Writer, the service announced a movie and series that caught my attention. are they the series Shantaramwith Charlie Hunnam, and the film Raymond & Raycom Ewan McGregor e Ethan Hawke.
Shantaram – debut 10/14
The 12-episode series is based on the world-famous best-seller namesake, by Gregory David Roberts. The premiere takes place on the 14th with three episodes, and then the others in weekly premieres. She accompanies fugitive Lin Ford (Hunnam) in his attempt to disappear. All in the midst of the chaotic Indian city of Bombay (now Mumbai), in the 80s. In fact, the story is partially inspired by the trajectory of Gregory David Roberts. He escaped from a maximum security prison in Australia. He then went into hiding in India. There he worked as a counterfeiter, smuggler, arms dealer and soldier for the local mafia. In the series, alone in an unknown city, the character Lin struggles to avoid problems old and new. Only he falls in love with an enigmatic and intriguing woman named Karla. That’s when he’ll have to choose between freedom or love and the complications that come with that choice.
Just remembering that Charlie Hunnam also starred in the remake of Papillon, where he also escapes from a maximum security prison. Just to remind you, I interviewed Charlie when he was here in Brazil to launch King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. On the occasion, we talked about various subjects, even kittens. Look here:
Raymond & Ray – debuts on 10/21
The production is by Alfonso Cuarón (Roma) and directed by Rodrigo García (four days with her). Raymond (Ewan McGregor) is a reserved, twice-divorced businessman. One day, he knocks on the door of Ray (Hawke), a charismatic musician who attracts women and trouble wherever he goes. And he informs her that the father they share – and equally despise – has passed away. From there, a chaotic family reunion ensues.
With good humor, they find the chance to reinvent themselves at their father’s funeral. During the 36 hours, in which they come together to pay tribute to their deceased father, their lives are radically transformed. In this story there is anger, pain, madness and even love, as well as much to resolve next to the coffin. Raymond and Ray realize they’re not just going to bury their past. They will literally be driven to dig to the bottom of their stories. The cast also includes Maribel Verdú and Sophie Okonedo.
