Criativo was the first of three professionals to go to the Latin Talent Hall of Honor
One of the main publicists in the Brazilian market, Marcello Serpa is the first of the three creatives to be part of the Latin Talent Hall of Honor. The space was created as part of the festival’s 25th anniversary celebrations and, as of this edition, will be part of the event to highlight professionals who have been recognized throughout their careers at El Ojo.
Serpa will be honored on November 9, during an Awards Ceremony on the first day of the festival.
El Ojo de Iberoamrica’s Latin Talent Hall of Honor was created to recognize the most outstanding men and women of Latin creativity, to inspire new generations of advertising leaders to reach the highest levels of excellence, said Santiago Keller Sarmiento, president of El Ojo de Iberoamrica.
Marcello Serpa was one of the most recognized advertising professionals in the Latin creative industry. He grew up in Rio de Janeiro and, as a young man, moved to Germany to study art, where he stayed for seven years. It was there that he began his career as a publicist, as an art director for agencies such as GGK and RG Wiesmeier. Upon returning to Brazil, he continued creating at DPZ, then at DM9, where he won the first Cannes Festival Grand Prix for Brazil, with a graphic campaign for Guaran Diet.
In 1993, he joined AlmapBBDO, where he stayed until 2015. At that time he, Serpa and José Luiz Madeira left the partnership with the agency. The creative was elected Best Creative Director at El Ojo nine times, in addition to taking Almap to be Agency of the Year at Cannes three times in 2000, 2010 and 2011).
