Globo and Fundao Roberto Marinho have opened registration for the second edition of the LED Movement, an award that recognizes innovative practices in Brazilian education.
The new edition of the award has three new categories, Students, Educators and Entrepreneurs, Creators and Innovative Organizations, which allows different profiles to compete for the R$ 1.5 million prize, with R$ 1.2 million divided among the six winners. and R$ 300 thousand for Desafio LED Me d um luz a!, aimed at young students.
In addition to Basic Education projects (initiatives for Elementary School II, High School and/or Youth and Adult Education (EJA); Vocational/Technical Education; and Non-formal Education), Early Childhood Education and Elementary School I works were also included. in the notice. With that, the entire Basic Education is now included in the award.
To publicize the opening of registrations and its public notice, the broadcaster and the foundation released a film that will be broadcast between TV Globo programs and the company’s subscription channels. Carioca composer Carlos Cardoso Farias, better known as MC Student, was invited to compose and interpret, along with MC Soffia, the music for the piece.
The social networks of Globo and Fundao Roberto Marinho also embark on the campaign with information about the initiative, expanding the voice of the LED Movement.
In the first edition, the award received more than 3,400 entries and each of the six selected Brazilian projects received R$ 200,000. Initiatives in So Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Bahia, Pernambuco and Paraba became known to the general public through the Special LED Light in Education program, aired on TV Globo, last June, and available on Globoplay.
The project is an initiative of Globo and Fundao Roberto Marinho in partnership with Atlas da Juventude, CIEB (Innovation Center for Brazilian Education), ITS (Rio Institute of Technology and Society), OEI (Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture), Porto Digital, UNESCO, Unicef, All for Education, Vale do Dend, in addition to institutional support from Consed (National Council of Secretaries of Education) and Undime (Union of Municipal Education Directors).
The qualification criteria of the initiatives are based on four main pillars that adhere to the logic of the Award: Innovation, Impact, Scale and Replicability and Methodological Rigor, and all semi-finalist projects are evaluated by PonteAponte – a company specialized in the development of public notices of social impact and technical partner of the LED Movement.
Afterwards, those selected go on to an interview with a technical committee and highly committed reviewers. PwC, a company focused on quality, independence, transparency and advanced methodology, is also working with the LED Movement and will audit all stages of the selection process.
The award is expected to take place in the first half of 2023. Applications for the award can be made through the website until November 7th.
