Production process
In November 2021, a few months after Kwai’s sponsorship of the national teams was announced, the platform took the first steps towards the elaboration of the project with exclusive content that told where Brazilian football was born and the life story of these characters.
The objective was to explore a more personal format, with the player narrating his trajectory, in addition to the use of animations to bring the stories without images to life, bringing a more intimate look. The project had a director, three researchers and three screenwriters, who rescued the memories of each player, resulting in more than 90 hours of recorded content between interviews and testimonials. Rodrigo adds:
“For us it is very gratifying to be part of this partnership, which resulted in such a powerful project bringing stories told in an unprecedented way by players. With these mini documentaries, we seek to strengthen the affection and affection for the athletes, in addition to strengthening ties between the fans and the Brazilian National Team.”
According to the director of the documentaries, Miguel Varca, information from the FutDados football statistics website also helped to set the tone for the recordings. According to him:
“We saw that a Brazilian who dreams of being a player needs 6 thousand hours of training to enter the 0.1% chance of being among the 15 thousand professionals in Brazil; and of these only 23 will be called up for the World Cup. The journey of the players required a lot of dedication and a huge effort, many came from extreme conditions and raised by single mothers, a scenario that also ends up reflecting Brazilian society.”
