Study also showed which are the most searched categories for this year’s date
Two studies carried out by Mercado Livre mapped the expectations of consumers and brands for this year’s Black Friday. With the expectation of growth of more than 20% in sales, compared to last year’s edition, anticipation will be the key of the time.
Also according to the study carried out by Mercado Ads, fashion and technology will be the most searched categories during the date, with 48% and 44% of intentions, respectively. Appliances, beauty and personal care categories appear just behind, with 30% intentions each.
Fabiana Manfredi, senior director of Mercado Ads, believes in a Black Friday different from the previous ones, given that the World Cup is underway along with the date, considered the main one, for Brazilian retail. The executive also stated that, according to the survey, 80% of users intend to buy online on that date.
This means excellent service, with an assortment, good offers and fast delivery. We have already worked constantly throughout the year to offer the best shopping experience and we are prepared. This November will certainly be the best month in the history of the Free Market, he said.
Send Pix
Another survey carried out with more than 10,500 users of Mercado Pago and the marketplace across the country also shows the intention to purchase payment for Black Friday 2022, and shows that Brazilians are concerned about financially planning for the date.
According to Mercado Pago, this payment method brought almost 700,000 users to Mercado Livre and Mercado Pago in the second quarter alone, and continues to play an important role for this Black Friday from the point of view of experience and efficiency for consumers and sellers. .
Pix showed a 7 pp growth in usage intent compared to last year, from 12% to 19%. In this context of higher average ticket and preference for installments, the Pix in installments is beginning to be considered by Brazilians for purchases this Black Friday, as well as other forms of BNPL, such as the possibility of installments via Credit Market.
The credit card remains the preferred means of payment, and is considered an important planning tool for consumers who want to buy items with a larger ticket-medium, but without losing sight of the installments, explains Daniel Davano, Senior Payments Director at Mercado Paid out.
The survey also revealed that credibility on the date has advanced and 71% of respondents expect to find more discounts than in the previous year. With an eye on taking advantage of promotions, 68% of those interviewed have already made plans to anticipate shopping for Christmas.
When it comes to payments, the credit card is the leader for the date, with a jump from 49% in 2021 to 68% in 2022. The possibility of paying in installments justifies this result, since more than 85% of Brazilians intend to pay in installments , and preferably, for 42% of respondents, up to six times.
