The meeting will be held on November 26, at Ambev’s headquarters, in São Paulo, and in the cities of Fortaleza (CE), Porto Alegre (RS), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), as well as Brasília (DF). The opening will be broadcast to all regional offices, which will later follow with local activations and programming. The initiative will bring together black leaders of the company and market professionals to talk about the areas and possibilities of action at Ambev. In all, five thousand people will be impacted and 200 scholarships, including courses and mentorships, will be offered.
The scholarships will be aimed at o personal development of soft skills, leadership and for the Introduction to the World of Beer course, while the mentoring program will be for professional development.
Michele Salles, Director of Diversity, Inclusion, Equity and Mental Health at Ambev, says:
“Ambev believes that it is through a diverse environment that people feel more confident and at ease to propose new ideas. Therefore, holding an event like this is one of the ways to ensure that diversity and inclusion are always latent themes in the company.”
O ‘Open Doors‘ was created in 2018 and aims to promote discussion and implementation of actions to combat racism and promote racial equity. Enrollment is now open and all black and brown people who are interested in knowing more about Ambev and the practices adopted by the company to promote racial equity are invited. The displacement of interested parties to the places where the activations took place will be Ambev’s responsibility.
Ambev trajectory for racial equity
In recent years, Ambev recognized that it had a long journey ahead of it on the racial issue and made important commitments to promote an equity agenda inside and outside the company. In 2020, Ambev signed the 10 Commitments of Companies to Promote Racial Equality, announced 13 specific goals to increase the racial diversity of its leaders and the value chain, and constituted a committee of external experts related to the racial agenda.
The company also launched the Representaan exclusive internship program for black people, entered into a partnership with MOVER, and committed to training more than 3 million black professionals, in addition to generating more than 10,000 new leadership positions by 2030. This year, the company also launched the Dàgbá, its first Black Leadership Development Program.
Even being aware that it is just the beginning of a long journey, Ambev is already reaping important results, such as overcoming the number of black employees in leadership positions – the goal was to hire 200 professionals between January and December 2021. Until today, within the stipulated profile, more than 500 professionals have already been incorporated into the leaderboard. The company was also recognized in two categories in the IERE – Business Racial Equity Index 2021 and was featured in the ethnic-racial inclusion of the Ethos/Época 2022 survey.
These first achievements were possible with the work of the entire team directed to work on racial equity initiatives inside and outside the company. Ambev recognizes that it is only at the beginning of a long journey and that it has many challenges to overcome.
