Motherhood is not just a matter for mothers, but for the whole of society. It is part of our life in the choice or not of exercising it, in the relationship with family, friends, co-workers, with men and in the villages we build with other women. That’s why this year Casa Tpm gathered a powerful team to discuss motherhood from angles that are still national taboos, without romanticization or idealization – and also without losing their good humor.
Djamila Ribeiro, Negra Li, Lore Improta, Tati Bernardi, Elisama Santos, Pepita, Lau Patrón, Giselle Itié, Karine Teles, Helen Ramos, Andressa Reis, Mari Achutti, Samara Felippo, Egnalda Côrtes, Alessandra Ayabá, Daniela Arrais, Amanda Costa, Hana Khalil and Neide Santos were some of the women who participated in the recording of Casa Tpm 2022, which resulted in this second original series of the brand to be broadcast by TV Cultura and Youtube.
Over four episodes, which will air on Thursdays at 11 pm, on November 10, 17 and 24, and December 1, the public will be able to experience the exchange of ideas on one of the most important issues of women and go even further and deeper in understanding the pain felt and carried by motherhood in all its complexity.
Conceived and produced by TRIP and directed by director Paula Buarque, the series was filmed at the Casa de Cultura do Parque, in the Alto de Pinheiros neighborhood of São Paulo, and investigates all the maternal sewing loaded with idealizations, escaping from clichés, romanticizations and impositions on the right or wrong way to be a mother, and even on the right not to be. Topics still treated as taboo in Brazil will be exposed and examined without fear or prejudice: Double motherhood, the transvestite mother, mothers of trans children, toxic families and motherhood, maternal grief and other angles that fail to occupy the prominent place due to the media or in social networks, treated naturally and clearly by those who live these experiences.
Each episode will be guided by a main theme within the universe of motherhood. Are they: to blame is the mother; Mom is not all the same; How much is a mother worth? e I became a mother, now what?.
The conversations address the beauty of motherhood, while exposing the anguish, insecurities, pain and abdication that it also usually generates. The meetings include atypical mothers, single mothers, LGBTQIAP+ mothers and many other mothers who proposed to reflect on the changes in the body and self-esteem, relationships after children, the job market, the children’s future and so many other pressures exerted by each plot of the social fabric so that mothers feel guilty all the time.
