Suzano, a global reference in the manufacture of bioproducts developed from the cultivation of eucalyptus, and Zé Delivery, the largest beverage delivery application in the world, come together to promote sustainability and innovation in Brazilian delivery. The partnership foresees that the companies will allocate 10 thousand paper bags made of recyclable material, with raw material from a renewable, biodegradable and reusable source, to meet the requests made in the application, in the dark stores JK Sao Paulo and Taquaral Campinas.
The products of the pilot project, which have already started to circulate in the cities of São Paulo and Campinas (SP), are made with Suzano’s Greenbag paper. The paper that was born to be a bag has as characteristics a greater resistance and physical barrier, which guarantees the necessary safety for the transport of beverages. The partnership aims to provide an innovative and more sustainable solution for a sector that historically uses a lot of plastic in its operations.
Fabio Almeida, executive director of Suzano’s Paper and Packaging Unit, says:
“At Suzano, all our products and processes are developed based on innovation, which is innovation in favor of sustainability, helping to meet society’s demand for more environmentally friendly solutions. Therefore, our premise is to establish partnerships that move towards building a better future, encouraging conscious and sustainable consumption.”
For Zé Delivery, the partnership is a way to increase the use of plastic-free material in its packaging, ensuring that the drink arrives cold, quickly and at a fair price to its customers’ homes.
Indianara Dias, head of ESG at Zé Delivery, says:
”Ambev, of which Zé Delivery is a part, has the goal of eliminating plastic pollution from its packaging by 2025 with 3 main strategies: elimination and replacement; returnable and recycled packaging and innovation and partnerships. To collaborate with this objective, Zé teamed up with Suzano to develop the pilot of a 100% plastic-free bag for the delivery of your orders.”
A QR Code will be printed on the bag, from which the consumer will have access to a satisfaction survey to comment on the experience with the new packaging.
The initiative is in line with one of the Commitments to Renew Life established by Suzano, to offer, by 2030, 10 million tons of products of renewable origin to replace plastics and petroleum derivatives. The initiative is also aligned with the ESG pillar of Zé Delivery.
