Last Tuesday, November 8th, NBCUniversal International Networks & Direct to Consumer introduced the news of its E! and DreamWorks for executives from the pay television and press industry, at the Rosewood Hotel, in São Paulo, with the presence of several of its artists and national talents.
Marcello Coltro, Senior Vice President of NBCUniversal, responsible for channel distribution in Brazil and executive producer of national formats, commented:
“Through co-production with independent producers and original formats, we are strengthening our content and solidifying the brand’s positioning as an inclusive, diverse and female empowerment platform. It proposes to audiences the exchange of information, conversations, and exposes different realities to amplify voices of gender, race, ethnicity, body, sexual orientation and age.
In the case of DreamWorks, we continue to expand the channel through the various pay television operators, bringing the best content from the animated studios at NBCUniversal, which includes DreamWorks and Illumination studios, with iconic characters favorites for the whole family,” added Coltro.
WHAT’S NEW FROM DREAMWORKS
The children’s channel launched in April 2022 continues to grow in distribution in the country and brings new series and movies to its offer. From now on, the channel increases its offer of films, with titles recognized by the audience, such as Puss in Boots, Despicable Me 2, The Lorax and How to Train Your Dragon.
In addition, DreamWorks brings series based on the studio’s feature films, such as The Boss Baby: Back in Business, Trolls: The Beat Goes On! and The Epic Adventures of Captain Underpants. Finally, DreamWorks introduces MOVIE MOMENTS, which promises to keep the whole family connected with the studio’s favorite characters.
NEWS FROM E! ENTERTAINMENT
Following the “Voices of E!” strategy, launched in 2018, the brand reinforces its commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment, diversity and inclusion through its original productions and aligned with the global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy of the company. NBCUniversal.
The VOZES DO E! campaign, followed by original documentaries with the same title, support the strategy of investing in national productions and giving voice to all individuals in society, especially women, regardless of color, age, gender and beauty standards.
Among the voices heard in these four years, the models of BEAUTY GG stand out. Mayara Russi and Fluvia Lacerda presented the universe of curve and plus size fashion to the public, questioning beauty standards. The actress Luana Piovani showed, in LUANA É DE LUA, that all people are entitled to their opinion, without fear of cancellations. Drags Ikaro Kadoshi, Penelopy Jean and Rita Von Hunty have been on the air since 2018, helping diverse women bring out their inner divas. The channel currently airs an unreleased season of DRAG ME AS A QUEEN CELEBRITIES every Tuesday at 8pm.
On social media, Zezé Motta runs the INSPIRATIONAL STORIES, in which he interviews people with stories of overcoming. The singer and actress also narrates the documentary VOZES DO E!, released in 2021, whose second edition is coming to the channel. And Zezé also has plans in partnership with E! Entertainment for Black Women’s Day.
Juju Salimeni and Beth Szafir helmed two seasons of JUJU BOOT CAMP and OS SZAFIRS, proving that women are physically and emotionally strong and that age is no obstacle to reinventing yourself.
There were many partnerships with personalities and producers, who contributed to the channel’s mission to promote Brazilian audiovisual, always seeking diversity, not only in front of the cameras, but also behind the scenes. In all productions, the channel makes a point of having a team formed mainly by women and LGBTQIAP+ professionals.
And the attractions of the E! Entertainment for the coming years follow these guidelines, so that representation is no longer just a utopia and becomes a reality in Brazilian audiovisual.
