SOKO, a creative earned media agency, is among the finalists for the 21st Citizenship Award in Respect for LGBT+ Diversity, the largest LGBT+ award in Brazil. The company competes in two categories: “Advertising Campaigns”, alongside the Beats/Ambev client with the Beats Palco campaign, and in the “Best Service Company” category, as a communication agency, alongside the PwC consultancy and the energy company EDP Brazil.
With the purpose of producing relevant and plural creative work, fighting the toxic practices of the communication market, SOKO is the only agency in the market to compete for the award. Currently, 44% of employees are LGBT+ people. In leadership positions, they are 41%. The agency also has a literacy, development program, host groups and is committed to bringing LGBT+ agendas to many of its campaigns.
Brisa Vicente, COO of SOKO, comments:
“We believe that advertising that is good is not enough. She needs to be good for everyone. Therefore, we are very happy with the two nominations. It means we are on the right path.”
The Palco Beats project, conceived by the agency for Ambev’s ready-to-drink brand, assumes the fees of trans artists in concert halls that give up their stages as an incentive for more places to make room for these talents. So far, five stages have already been held, among the 12 of the first phase, in five different cities, with the presentation of 10 artists and a total of 50 thousand people in attendance. The project started in June 2022 and continues.
Each of the categories of the Citizenship Award in Respect for LGBT+ Diversity had a judging committee that analyzed the entries. The first, formed by Agência FOME, Observatório da Diversidade na Propaganda, Clube de Criação, Papel & Caneta, Associação dos Profissionals de Propaganda (APP) and Influxo&Co, which selected the three advertising campaigns that were best evaluated in terms of creativity, results, technique and legacy. While the commission, formed by the Forum of LGBTI+ Companies and Rights, Instituto Ethos, Great Place To Work, Diversa and the award-winning in 2021, Dow Brasil, made the selection that competes for the trophies of Best Company.
The vote to choose who takes the trophy of the 21st edition of the award takes place through the website premio.paradasp.org.br, until December 3rd. Thirty-three finalists compete for the award, organized and held by the São Paulo LGBT Pride Parade Association (APOLGBT-SP), in ten categories: audiovisual, performing arts, literature, digital influencer, allied personality, sports, press, theme of the year, advertising campaign and company.
