Team Liquid launches, in collaboration with Dell Technologies, the web series “What Are Esports?”, which tells the story of the competitive gaming scene in Brazil and around the world – from the emergence of Internet cafes to the evolution and professionalization of the sector – and addresses expectations for the coming years. The attraction has four chapters and features interviews with references in this universe that does not stop growing, such as professional players, content creators, streamers, casters, industry journalists, area executives and specialists linked to the gamer lifestyle. The webseries premiered yesterday, 12/6, at 7 pm, and will have weekly episodes of about 15 minutes, always published on Tuesdays exclusively on the Team Liquid Brasil channel on YouTube.
The first episode, titled “When Everything Was Mato!”, will address the craze for Internet cafes in Brazil and around the world, which served as a space for many young people in the early 2000s to discover the opportunity to lead a life as professional gamers. . The second chapter, “The Athletes of the Future Play Video Games!”, will talk about career possibilities in the eSports universe, which go beyond the life of a competitor. The third, “The Largest Industry on the Planet!”, gives an overview of the impressive numbers of this market, which should reach a turnover of up to US$ 1.62 billion in 2024, according to Statista. Finally, the fourth and last part of the mini-documentary, called “The Future of Sport Will Be Digital!”, presents a possible scenario for the future of eSports and talks about the importance of this activity for people.
“What Are Esports?” draws inspiration from moving documentaries that became references in their respective subjects and expanded the number of fans in those sectors, such as ‘Drive to Survive’, about Formula 1, and ‘The Last Dance’, about the Chicago Bulls basketball team and its historic conquests in the NBA”, says Rafa Queiroz, general manager of Team Liquid in Brazil. “We are passionate about eSports and want to show as many people as possible the gigantic potential of this sector, which still has a lot to grow”.
