The partnership between the brand and the championship involves naming rights and has an initial duration of three years.
Vivo announced the sponsorship of the WSL, the World Surfing League and will assume the naming rights of the Brazilian stage of the championship. The contract has an initial duration of three years.
Surfing is a democratic sport that is present in many regions of Brazil and connects people with moments of well-being and with nature. The partnership with WSL reinforces the values and vision of the brand, which in addition to covering the entire country, bets on the relationship between technology and contemporary themes such as sustainability, physical and mental well-being, says Marina Daineze, director of Brand and Vivo communication.
In 2022, the Championship Tour stage, held on the coast of the State of Rio de Janeiro, had a record number of sponsors, totaling 22 brands. Brazil has six championship titles: three by Gabriel Medina (2014, 2018 and 2021), one by Adriano de Souza (2015), one by Talo Ferreira (2019) and the last one won by Filipe Toledo this year.
According to a Sponsorlink survey, by Ibope Repucom, Brazil registered an increase in the number of sports fans and has 45.3 million people following the category.
“It is a great satisfaction for the WSL to have managed to bring to the surfing environment a brand with such national visibility as Vivo. It is a very important achievement to attract strong brands to the surfing ecosystem, such as Vivo, which strengthen the sport as a whole, not just the WSL, but also the athletes and other federations, added Ivan Martinho, CEO of the World Surf League in Latin America.
