Project developed in partnership with the Streetwise agency helps reduce CO2 emissions from solar energy consumption
Santander, in partnership with Streetwise, takes 35 sustainable bus stops to Porto Alegre that consume solar energy and have their seats made from the batteries used by the system. With 330W photovoltaic panels and energy management resources, the new installations in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul have the capacity to remain illuminated for up to three days, essential autonomy for days with cloudy skies or when there is a power outage.
Already installed in Porto Alegre, Santander’s sustainable shelters will be sponsored by the brand, initially, until December 2023.
In addition to taking advantage of clean and renewable energy, helping to minimize the emission of CO2 (carbon dioxide) into the atmosphere and reduce the electricity bill of taxpayers who pay the CIP (Public Lighting Contribution) fee on their bills, the action also promotes the safety of public transport users in times of possible power outages.
In 2021, Santander inaugurated the country’s first self-sustainable train station and, in 2022, promoted the recycling of 100 pieces of urban furniture that were installed in the Capo Redondo district, in So Paulo, with the aim of improving infrastructure and providing visibility to local businesses.
