Shutterstock, Inc. presented the Annual Color Trend Report for 2022, which identified the three fastest-growing colors in use. This year’s report also identified the best performing color that leads to the highest clickthrough rates (CTS) and conversion in advertising campaigns.
“This year, we’ve taken our creative insights to a new level with the inclusion of AI-identified colors to help creatives safely increase the impact of their work. With the report, we want to give these professionals the knowledge they need to make calculated and accurate choices for everything they create”, said Flo Lau, Shutterstock’s creative director.
According to the study, shades of green are the color scheme considered most clickable by marketers and creativity professionals. Green is a color that is associated with health and is often seen in fresh food campaigns or to publicize environmental efforts. According to the analyzed data, adding a touch of green to creations increases the performance of campaigns, CTR and customer conversions.
This year’s Color Trends Report showed a more discreet and minimalist approach compared to previous years. Also, the 2022 keyword when it comes to color selection is: serenity.
“In 2021 there was a reckoning with all the heavy that the year had brought. Now, brands and agencies around the world are adapting their color palettes to calm and evoke stability and balance. These colors tell us that people look for natural, earthy and calming tones”, completed Flo Lau.
See which colors, according to Shutterstock, will define the 2022 aesthetic:
Serene Coral (#E9967A): A slightly faded peach
Violet Velvet (#800080): A shade of purple with a pink background
Pacific Rose (#DB7093): A cotton candy rose
Data experts have also decoded favorite tones from twenty countries around the world, highlighting the colors that are most in tune with local audience tastes. From Steel Blue (#4682B4) in Switzerland to Light Pink (#FFC0CB) in the UK, Mexico, the Netherlands and Brazil, the report gives creatives a regional view of which colors will make the most impact for their creations in each country.
