Unimed Volta Redonda received the Clean Energy seal from the Prime Energy Group, which attests to the contracting of Electric Energy from Renewable Sources. In a period of five years, the Cooperative protected the environment from the emission of more than 28 thousand tons of carbon dioxide (CO2), with the acquisition of renewable electric energy, which comes from natural resources, which are replenished, such as the sun, wind, rain.
The director of Unimed Volta Redonda, Dr. Isis Lassarote explains that the cooperative hires different types of renewable energies, such as photovoltaics, obtained through sunlight; wind, generated by transforming the wind into useful energy, and hydroelectric by the force of water. All these energy sources also result in a decrease in the emission of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
Since 2017, Unimed Volta Redonda has invested in solutions so that the activities carried out at the Cooperative are increasingly sustainable, reducing the environmental impact. Some of the actions developed by Unimed are: selective collection, treatment of solid and liquid waste, conscious disposal of cable scrap that has already completed its use cycle, recycling of light bulbs, digital panel that monitors the water, sewage and electricity systems, rainwater reuse system and electronic medical record to reduce the use of paper.
Dr. Elaine de Fatima Nogueira, Vice President of Unimed, says:
“Developing actions in favor of the environment means offering a better quality of life for society. As a Cooperative in the health area, our duty and concern with reducing the environmental impact is even greater. This award reinforces our responsibility to seek sustainable initiatives to conduct our business, always aiming to care for people’s health and well-being.”
The president of the cooperative, Dr. Vitório Moscon Puntel, says that Unimed Volta Redonda is on the right track. For him, the use of renewable energy is in line with the investments that the Cooperative makes to take care of the environment and make its activities increasingly sustainable.
