Last Thursday (6), the Uber announced that it will end its restaurant delivery service by Uber Eats in Brazil. According to the business, the closing of the activity is scheduled to take place on March 8th. However, the deactivation has already started due to the impossibility of making cash payments in the app. It is worth noting that the delivery of convenience and market items remains, in partnership with Cornershop.
reason for termination
In an official note to users, the company stated that it has taken the decision to strengthen its connection with the Chilean startup. But the decision comes a day after President Jair Bolsonaro sanctioned a law that forces companies in the application segment to take out accident insurance for deliverymen.
Although Uber did not mention the project in the official statement, the company stated that: “Our main objective going forward will be to offer access to a selection of supermarkets, specialty stores, pet shops, flower shops, liquor stores and other items in the application” .
Payment for delivery at Uber Eats
As mentioned earlier, from yesterday (6) until March 8th, the restaurant delivery service will continue to function, but will only accept PIX or credit and debit card transactions for orders.
