Financial independence is a topic of extreme importance in the struggle of women and female empowerment. And to support them in this trajectory, the Marisa and Editora MOL launched another joint publication, the “Women’s Guide to Prosperity”, which is expected to donate R$ 195,000 to Instituto Rede Mulher Empreendedora and Instituto Maria da Penha. The Guide presents several practical tips to improve your relationship with money, overcome moments of crisis and be confident in pursuing your dreams.
A survey carried out in September 2022 by the National Confederation of Trade in Goods, Services and Tourism (CNC) reveals that more than 80% of Brazilian women are indebted. In addition, according to the IBGE, in 2021, the woman’s salary was 77% lower than that of men who held the same position.
Therefore, controlling money responsibly, having extra income and understanding expenses are fundamental actions for women to guarantee their autonomy. Financial independence is a pillar of security so that women can make decisions in a more solid and confident way, even helping to reduce the incidence of abusive relationships, in addition to allowing them to save more money to fulfill their dreams.
Nívea Pizzolito, Sustainability coordinator at Marisacomments:
“The main objective of Marisa is to encourage women’s self-esteem and we know that a healthy financial life is very important in this process. We are very proud to be able to provide material as rich as this one, in yet another super important partnership with Editora MOL, which can help women achieve financial independence to make their dreams come true or even get out of a vulnerable situation. The content is very much in line with our purposes and pillars. We have a platform of financial products and services, a reseller program, with the purpose of providing extra income for our clients and content on personal finance. All with a focus on bolstering our support for stability and financial independence for women.”
Roberta Faria, CEO of Editora MOL, says:
“This is the fifth social product that we are happy to create with Marisa. In addition to being an important tool for women’s financial lives, the book will collect donations for NGOs that are reference in income generation and female entrepreneurship, and in the fight against violence against women. The Woman’s Guide to Prosperity is part of the business model created by MOL that benefits three fronts: the consumer, who enjoys inspiring content at a democratic price and even makes a microdonation; the retail partner, which connects with its purpose and encourages good deeds in its employees, and the beneficiary institution, which uses the resources to promote the project, impact society and render accounts.”
Encouraging the achievement of economic independence for women is one of the main causes defended by the Marisa. In this sense, the financial service of the brand, mbank, was structured to facilitate women’s daily lives. Launched in 2021, it offers, in addition to cards to buy inside and outside the store, products and services designed especially for its consumers. Personal credit, for example, simplifies obtaining loans, by choosing rates and installments that best fit the family budget and help them fulfill their dreams.
Thinking about the care and concerns that women have in relation to their family, the financial platform also has insurance and assistance that give more stability to their daily lives. One of them, Life and Health Protection, provides coverage in the event of a diagnosis of cancer, stroke or heart attack, as well as support for the family with help with expenses and debt payments. So that women have better conditions for professional development, there is protection against loss of income or unemployment, in addition to personal assistance and even for domestic animals, dogs and cats. These are services and products that seek to guarantee support and stability in areas that impact women’s lives, to help boost their financial lives. With this performance, Mbank already has 10 million customers in its base and more than 3 million assets.
One of the tips presented in the Prosperity Guide is extra income. In Brazil, thousands of women are already doing business in different areas and the Marisa, aware of the importance of other sources of income for women, has been offering a digital sales platform since 2020, the Sou Sócia program, which allows its associates to receive a commission of 10% on sales. With the aim of creating yet another tool to increase extra income and influence, the program provides personalized training that, in addition to boosting sales, expands knowledge and strengthens women’s self-esteem. And to complete, the brand brings in its content platform, the M Universe, finance and investment tips in a simple way to help its consumers to control their budget and assets.
The guide
Divided into three chapters, the “Women’s Guide to Prosperity” brings 30 tips on how to organize accounts to escape debt, earn more money and, finally, make your dreams come true. The material also has ideas to create an extra income and strategies to set goals and implement plans, whether to study, travel or even buy a property.
With a print run of 84,000 copies, the book will be sold at checkouts in all physical stores Marisa from January 16th for R$6.99. Part of the profit acquired from sales of the book, excluding only taxes and production costs, will be reverted to the Maria da Penha Institute, which works to consolidate the Maria da Penha Law (Law 11,340/2006), and to the Instituto Rede Mulher Empreendedora, which trains women throughout Brazil free of charge, fostering income generation through entrepreneurship and employability.
