God of War Ragnarok has reached a new sales milestone. The game’s developer, Santa Monica Studio, announced that the game produced for the PS5 and PS4 has surpassed 11 million copies sold worldwide. That number includes sales for both consoles as well as copies sold in hardware bundles.
“None of this would be possible without the support of our fans, so thank you for joining us on this journey!” said the studio in a thank you twitter post. Check out:
God of War: Ragnarok sold 5 million copies in its first week of 2022, making it the best-selling original PlayStation game of all time. 11 million copies sold is a big number, but without the context of how much the game cost to produce and market, it’s difficult to measure how much commercial success the game has had overall.
Despite the game’s strong sales so far, Santa Monica Studio has no plans to release DLC for the game. Ragnarok, however, introduced a Photo Mode in December, where players can capture special moments on their journey much more easily.
God of War: Ragnarok still has a long way to go to catch up with 2018’s God of War, which sold over 23 million copies, which benefited from a recent PC release. So far, Ragnarok has not yet been announced for computers and if it happens, it should take some time.
