The platform acquired the rights to broadcast both tournaments for four years and has three main sponsorship quotas
Paramount+ will make its debut on sports broadcasts next Thursday (9), in the first round of the Conmebol Libertadores, played by Boston River and Zamora. The platform will also be responsible for broadcasting Conmebol Sudamericana.
With the positioning “Futebol do Nosso Jeito”, the platform united names of traditional sports journalism with the internet for its transmission team and have Joo Guilherme and Nivaldo Prieto as narrators and Al Xavier and Paulo Vinicius Coelho (PVC) as commentators of the games . In addition to these, another 13 names should be announced soon.
The championships arrive at Paramount+ to add to the platform’s catalog and, as part of the sports strategy, streaming entered into a partnership with LiveMode, which will function as a transmission hub for all matches on the premium streaming service.
In addition to Brazil, the Libertadores games will also be available, simultaneously, in the other countries of Latin America on the open TV channels of Paramount, Telefe, Chilevisin, and on Pluto TV, a free TV streaming service.
Opportunity for brands
According to Diego Reck, vice president of strategies and head of sports for Latin America at Paramount, broadcasting in Latin countries gives them the opportunity to reach places other than their homeland.
“For Paramount+, and for Paramount in general, starting to work with sport is completely new. We had to structure a team to think about how to create a premium product. In terms of business, thinking about it as a differentiated product, advertising comes in. We We are opening a new space for advertisers. A limited space for advertising, so that the experience can be more premium and different. I believe that we arrived at launch with an excellent proposal”, explained Reck.
In total, the transmission will have three main sponsorship quotas, which encompass the entire Latin structure, but quotas directed to each country will also be made available.
Paramount+ will broadcast 154 games, 76 from Conmebol Libertadores and 78 from Conmebol Sudamericana. Streaming will have broadcast rights until 2026.
