Ritual in honor of the publicist’s memory will take place in the Parquia Nossa Senhora do Brasil, in São Paulo
The seventh day mass of journalist and publicist Mauro Salles, who died on the 11th, at the Albert Einstein Hospital, in So Paulo, is scheduled for this Thursday (16th), at the Nossa Senhora do Brasil Parish, at 1 pm. Salles had been ill for 16 years and died, aged 90, of natural causes (multiple organ failure).
With a brilliant trajectory, Salles worked for 12 years at Grupo Globo and played a fundamental role in the launch of TV Globo, where he was Director of Journalism and Programming in 1965.
In 1966, he left the Group to found his own advertising agency, Mauro Salles Publicidade. Two years later, the company incorporated Interamericana de Publicidade and, in 1976, it was renamed Salles/Interamericana de Publicidade.
In 1980, he led the creation of the Brazilian Advertising Code of Ethics. He was also active in literature. The publicist published books, most of them poems. ‘Children’s Things’, ‘Gestos’, ‘Reisen’ and ‘Tilpia Galilia’ were some of his works.
Salles is survived by his wife, Thereza, three children, ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
