The event took place at the agency’s headquarters in So Paulo and was attended by presenters Patrícia Santos and Samuel Gomes
WMcCann hosted the launch of the podcast Closes & Corres, which aims to talk about careers with black people and was created by Patrcia Santos, founder of Empregueafro, and by Samuel Gomes, Writer and Creator behind the channel Guardei no Armrio.
The program was developed with the support of WIP, an entertainment business accelerator with initial investment from creators and other companies. With some quotas already secured, the podcast is still open to talk with brands that want to support the fight, both in the first and future seasons.
We are the first graduates in our families, the first to arrive in corporate environments, the first to reach senior positions. This entire trajectory was built without mirrors or the like. Our proposal is to break this mechanism and empower people through the experience of market professionals”, said Samuel Gomes.
The program launch event took place this Monday (27th) in So Paulo, and was attended by guests such as activists and influencers of the Brazilian black movement, in addition to the support of WMcCann due to the partnership with EmpregueAfro.
I would like to thank EmpregueAfro for the trust and partnership with WMcCann and I congratulate Patricia and Samuel who are the great movers of all of this. There is still a lot to be done, but I believe in three points to accelerate the change in practice with numbers and facts: commitment, which is having targets for hiring and retaining black people agreed with everyone, discussed in leadership meetings and closely monitored. The second engagement. Actively participate in all issues involving representation, give voice and offer a safe and welcoming environment above all else. And lastly, influence. How we whites can be an influence in the anti-racist struggle, accelerators of opportunities and social change”, added Hugo Rodrigues, chairman of the McCann Worldgroup for WMcCann, Craft Brasil and Aldeiah.
Closes & Corres is available on all duo and video streaming platforms, such as Spotify and YouTube on the Guardei No Armrio channel, and there will be an episode where the interviewee will be Beatriz Lopes, art director at WMcCann, to talk about the Re_modelar project from WMcCann to Shutterstock.
