Accenture report estimates 40% of hours worked will be augmented by artificial intelligence
According to Accenture’s Technology Vision 2023 report, released today, generative AI and other rapidly evolving technologies point to a new future for business.
The meteoric rise of ChatGPT has brought the world’s attention to the power of generative AI to enhance human capability. Accenture estimates that around 40% of all hours worked will be supported, or augmented, by language-based AI. Among business leaders, 98% of respondents agree that AI foundational models will play an important role in their organizations’ strategies in an average of three to five years.
“The next decade will be defined by three megatrends in the technology world – the cloud, the metaverse and AI – which together will close the gap between the physical and digital worlds,” said Paul Daugherty, chief executive officer for Accenture Technology. “Generative AI will have far-reaching impact, and that will require significant investments in data, people, and customizing models to meet the unique needs of each company. So leaders who want to benefit from its full potential need to act now,” he adds.
Accenture’s Technology Vision 2023 report identified four key trends for anyone wanting to access this new shared reality:
Generative AI the extremes and possibilities of intelligence: By promoting human capability as a kind of co-pilot, creative partner or consultant, nearly all executives agree that generative AI will be able to significantly spur creativity and innovation (98%) and usher in a new era of business intelligence (95%).
Digital Identity ID for Everyone and Everything: The ability to authenticate users and digital assets is the foundation for anyone wanting to cross the digital and physical worlds already seen by 85% of executives as a strategic business imperative, not a mere technical issue.
Your Data, My Data, Our Data Transparency will be your most precious asset: AI can only reach its full potential once companies understand data. In other words, I need to do away with data clustering and modernize the bases. In fact, 90% of executives believe that data is becoming a key competitive differentiator for organizations across all industries.
Eternal frontier the big bang of computing and science: With ever shorter feedback cycles between science and technology, 75% of respondents believe that it will be possible to begin to unravel humanity’s great challenges.
