Mynd, the largest influencer marketing and entertainment agency in the country, will launch the webseries Potências! on April 3, which discusses the challenges of black people in the job market and points to growth in revenue for companies that invest in diversity. In all, there will be three episodes, with the themes: “Why hire black people? The Equality Challenge, “The reality of the black woman in the labor market” e “Blacks on top: is it a good deal?”featured on Mynd’s Instagram and YouTube.
Conceived by Judeilton Reis, Head of Social Media at the agency, and directed by Kíria Meurer, Director of Special Projects, the webseries mainly discusses best hiring practices and internal processes to boost black professional unemployment. In addition to hiring, it is important to welcome, encourage development and take into account the triggers that this employee brings from possible experiences, often prejudiced. Judeilton says:
“It’s a social issue, since 64% of unemployed people in Brazil are black, but that’s not all: companies need to understand that they also profit from diversity. It is already proven that in plural organizations, revenue grows up to 30%. These companies also serve their customers better and minimize errors and crises that may arise.”
The presentation is by Julio Beltrão, Mynd’s Artistic Director and creator of the Potências! project, announced at the beginning of the year and which will feature throughout 2023 a school for influencers, talent bank, consultancy and content platform, aimed at black people. Kiria tells:
“We have to keep this topic on the agenda throughout the year. Mynd is a company that puts this diversity premise into practice with more than 50% black employees and, therefore, has the moral authority to share its experiences with the market.”
Episode 01
The Potencias webseries! features in the first episode Fátima Pissarra, CEO of Mynd, and Valéria Nunes, Director of People & Management, in a debate on the theme “Why hire black people? The challenge of equality”. Fátima talks about the decision to have more than 50% black employees in the company and how this reflects in a much more plural delivery and connected with the needs of the market, and Valéria points out the importance of anti-racist education and post-hire actions, to integrate the person to the team and develop their potential. Fatima explains:
“When I decided to have 50% black professionals at Mynd, the idea was to have a company that represented Brazil in order to be able to better analyze advertising campaigns, since 56% of the country’s population is black. Until I matched it, I only hired black people, and the best method I established to reach that number was to hire for skills and not just for the resume.”
Episode 02
In the second episode, Dayane Carvalho, Director of Innovation, and Ana Fontes, President of Rede Mulher Empreendedora, talk about the black woman in the job market, the achievements and challenges that are still huge. The episode brings data such as the fact that white women earn 70% more than black women. According to Ana, it is necessary to invest in the educational base of this part of the population through courses, training, acceleration and mentoring. Day points out that it is necessary to prepare not only the employee, but also the employer so that there is a change in culture.
Episode 03
The third and final episode brings Judeilton Reis, Head of Social Media, and Felippe Guerra, Head of Audiovisual Projects, to discuss the theme “Blacks at the top: is it a good deal?”, showing that bringing diversity to teams generates innovative ideas and boost revenue. Judeilton further states:
“It’s a social issue, since 64% of unemployed people in Brazil are black, but that’s not all: companies need to understand that they also profit from diversity. It is already proven that in plural organizations, revenue grows up to 30%. These companies also serve their customers better and minimize errors and crises that may arise.”
