The Official Journal of the Union published last Friday, March 31, the appointment of journalist Renata Mielli, to the position of coordinating the Internet Management Committee (CGI.br), which is responsible for establishing initiatives and guidelines related to the internet development in Brazil.
It will be the first time in 28 years of existence that a Brazilian internet authority will have a woman occupying the collegiate. Renata will represent the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), while the vice-coordination will be occupied by Rubens Diniz Tavares, member of the MCTI.
The new coordinator replaces José Gontijo, who left the MCTI during the government transition. The takeover took place on Friday. Renata thanked the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Luciana Santos, for the nomination on social networks.
Renata Mielli has a degree in Social Communication from Faculdade Cásper Líbero (2003) and is currently a doctoral student in the Communication Sciences Program at the School of Communication and Arts at the University of São Paulo (ECA-USP).
He has experience in the area of communication in the areas of communication policies, broadcasting, public communication, internet, Marco Civil da Internet, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and other related subjects.
She is a member of the CGI.br Contents and Copyright Chamber and was part of the entity’s Universalization and Digital Inclusion Chamber.
He was a member of the Permanent Communication Commission of the National Human Rights Council between 2016 and 2022 and was part of the Communication Council of the Chamber of Deputies between 2019 and 2020. He also coordinated the National Forum for the Democratization of Communication between 2016 and 2020.
