Now, in addition to the US, South Korea and Australia, Spain and the Philippines are also participating in the tests.
As of this Monday (17), Brazil joins the list of countries that are testing the option to report fake news on Twitter. In addition to the country, Spain and the Philippines have also entered the testing phase of this new technology. Until then, only the United States, South Korea and Australia had the tool available.
“To date, we have received around 3 million reports of tweets that violate our policies, as well as helping to understand new trends in disinformation,” the statement said.
Two weeks ago, Twitter became the target of criticism by entities and users for not having made available the option to report fake news on the networks.
The repercussion, at the time, took the terms #TwitterApoiaFakeNews, #TwitterOmisso, #TwitterCumplice and #TwitterVergonhoso to trending topics on Twitter in Brazil.
The case even ended up with the Federal Public Ministry, which even sent a letter in which it questions the platform about why there is no such mechanism to report fake news.
The decision announced today by Twitter – to include Brazil in the list of countries that are taking the test – takes place before the ten working days stipulated by the MPF for Twitter to present an explanation about the absence of the tool against fake news.
