Elon Musk reported that if someone emailed Twitter’s press office, the response would be a feces emoji.
The escalation of violence in schools in Brazil led the Ministry of Justice to meet with representatives of social networks to ask for effective action against profiles that advocate violence or threats.
The meeting took place this Monday (10) and was attended by representatives from Youtube, Meta, Twitter, Kwai, Tik Tok, Whatsapp and Google.
During the conversation, Adela Gobena, representative of the network owned by Elon Musk, stated that “a profile with a photo of child killers (perpetrators of massacres in schools) did not violate the terms of use of the network and that it was not an apology for crime”, causing astonishment in the Brazilian authorities.
The statement reverberated on social media and, this Tuesday (11), a campaign was launched to repudiate the platform’s positioning and the hashtags TWITTER APOIA MASSACRES and TWITTER SUPPORT MASSACRES, the latter being censored by the network’s owner, Elon Musk.
The movement is being supported by big network profiles such as Sleeping Giants Brasil, Felipe Neto, Emicida and Daniela Mercury, making the hashtag reach the first place in the most commented subjects.
Sought by the newsroom, the former Twitter press office in Brazil stated that it no longer has the account and that, apparently, the social network has no advisory in Brazil.
O PROPMARK looked for the company by the global contact email, but was answered with a feces emoji.
The network’s new posture had been communicated by Elon Musk in March, when the billionaire reported that if someone sent an email to Twitter’s press office, that would be the answer.
