Celebrated on the second Sunday in May, Mother’s Day is one of the most anticipated dates for retailers in the first half. According to an analysis carried out by Shopee, Brazilians intend to spend, on average, R$ 200 on the gift.
The survey also pointed out that 27% of respondents said they already know what they are going to buy as a gift on the date and, among the preferred items at the time of choice, are clothes and accessories, with 41% of purchase intentions, household items, kitchen and decoration, with 22%, and electronics and health and beauty products, with 16%.
According to the platform, for 61% of respondents, price is the most important thing at the time of purchase, followed by the ease of finding the product (15%), being the gift that the mother really wants to receive (15%) and, finally, being a gift that surprises (6%).
Price is the factor that most concerns Brazilians. Therefore, they research and look for offers that fit in their pocket, without forgetting to give gifts to their mothers. We also noticed that the shopping experience needs to be easy so that the consumer does not empty his cart without taking anything, analyzed Felipe Piringer, responsible for marketing at Shopee.
The analysis also pointed out some habits of Brazilians when buying during commemorative dates. According to the results, online shopping is the main choice for 68% of respondents who claim to have the habit of buying online, whether to choose the gift and then look for the store with the best offer (52%) or first look at the price range and then search the internet (31%).
Regarding the tools used by consumers to search for the best gifts and discounts, the survey showed that Google continues to be the platform most used by 48% of respondents, while 38% shop at recommended stores and 31% follow the recommendation of friends, proving that word of mouth is still good advertising. For 25% of respondents, Instagram is the best social network to look for products and 11% trust Youtube.
