French actor Gaspard Ulliel died on Wednesday, January 19. The actor’s death was confirmed by the actor’s agent to AFP France. The cause of death was a serious skiing accident that happened last Tuesday in the Savoie region of France.
Gaspard had already participated in films alongside big names in cinema, such as “Paris, Te Amo”, released in 2006, with Steve Buscemi, Willem Dafoe and Maggie Gillenhaal. Still, the biggest work of the actor’s career was the movie Hannibal – Dawn of Evil, where he played the cannibal killer himself.
Currently, Ulliel was working on the new Marvel series, Moon Knight. In the production, which will premiere in March, the actor would play Midnight Man, the alter ego of the character Anton Mogart and villain of the hero that gives the series its name.
Gaspard Ulliel began his career at a young age, at the age of 12. His debut was in 1984, in the drama and thriller series “close protection duties“. The production followed the story of an investigation into drug trafficking involving French and Colombian organizations.
With an outstanding career within the French market, Gaspard Ulliel was the winner of 2 César Awards, the highest honor of cinema in the country. The recognitions came in 2005, for “Eterno Amor” and in 2017, for “É só o Fim do Mundo”.
In addition to the aforementioned Marvel Cinematic Universe series, the actor will also appear one last time in the French series “More than ever“. Gaspard Ulliel is survived by his wife and a 5-year-old son.
