The first jury meetings began on Sunday (6th) and run until Wednesday (9th), when the professionals meet to choose the Black Pencils.
The first day of the jury work for the D&AD Awards 2023 took place on a sunny Sunday in London and with the streets full around The Old Truman Brewery, the former brewery on Brick Lane, where the festival is being held in person, after three editions in online format. On this second day of the trial, the weather closed a little in the English city, but the jury meetings are happening at full speed.
This year, there are 378 jurors in total, 15 of which are Brazilian. Officially, D&AD starts this Tuesday (9), with jury insights, lectures and workshops. There are conferences with themes sensitive to the creative industry, such as “Machine will make us more creative than ever before”, with Fura Johannesdottir, from Huge, and “Are you ok with a homogeneous industry”, with Raymond Otene Mckay, from Run.
The 2023 D&AD Awards theme “Make. Change”. The shortlist for the award will be known on Thursday (11) and the award ceremony with the unveiling of the Pencils will take place on May 24 and 25. The strategy this year is to create greater expectations around the results.
