LATAM Pass registers an increase in the number of airline tickets redeemed in the first quarter of this year and returns to pre-pandemic levels
A survey carried out by LATAM Pass, the fourth largest loyalty program in the world, reveals that the number of airline tickets redeemed with points in the first quarter of 2023 reached the same level registered between January and March 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic. In all, more than 1.4 million airline tickets were redeemed in the program in the first three months of this year, the same number registered at the beginning of 2019. The number of airline tickets redeemed with points, it is worth remembering, was reduced during the pandemic, due to health restrictions.
“To face the effects of health restrictions, we expanded our partnerships with retailers in our marketplace, Shopping LATAM Pass, to diversify for customers the alternatives of products that could be redeemed with points and would be useful at that time, such as office supplies, small appliances , home accessories and other utensils, as well as extending categories during this period. Now, we are experiencing significant growth in the accumulation of points on the LATAM Pass. This reflects the desire of the consumer, eager for air travel after two years of the pandemic, and who sees value in using their points to redeem air tickets, mainly on LATAM, the company that most connects Brazil with the world”, comments Martin Holdschmidt, the director general of LATAM Pass in Brazil.
The quarterly survey of the LATAM Pass in Brazil also points out that the most redeemed domestic destinations in the first quarter of 2023 were São Paulo (Guarulhos and Congonhas airports), Rio de Janeiro (Santos Dumont and Galeão airports), Brasília, Fortaleza and Porto Alegre. In the international market, they led redemptions for Miami (USA), Santiago (Chile), Buenos Aires (Argentina), New York (USA) and Orlando (USA).
LATAM Pass
LATAM Pass is the official loyalty program of LATAM Airlines. The program offers several ways to accumulate points. One of them is through the LATAM Pass Itaú credit card, which converts all purchases made with it into points and even offers additional benefits to the customer. In its marketplace, Shopping LATAM Pass, which offers more than 200,000 products from retail partners in one place for cash purchases, customers are also rewarded with points.
In December 2022, LATAM also launched the Clube LATAM Pass, a product contracted through a monthly subscription, in which the customer receives exclusive benefits, such as the guarantee of a monthly number of points depending on the plan chosen by him. Finally, customers can accumulate points through their partner banks, concentrating their purchases on one of their credit cards and requesting the transfer to LATAM Pass.
All these accumulated points can be used to redeem airline tickets with LATAM or products available on its marketplace, Shopping LATAM Pass.
News
LATAM Pass started 2023 much more competitive. For this year, it announced four new benefits for customers to fly without borders. The package of novelties includes the elimination of the service charge for redemption for all members, crediting all points and eligible segments in excess of 2022 and expanding the coverage of the exclusive call center for customers in the Gold and Gold Plus categories. In addition, it also made the LATAM Pass Itaú credit card the tiebreaker for cabin upgrades for customers in the same category.
In addition to the four new benefits, the program recently inaugurated the new Shopping LATAM Pass, a marketplace that now offers, in a single place, not only the possibility of redeeming more than 200,000 products from retail partners with points, but also the purchase in cash and respective score. With the novelty, purchases are simpler and points are credited up to 70% faster.
In addition, LATAM Pass launched a new platform for redeeming airline tickets, offering the same experience as a paid ticket for a ticket redeemed with points. At the same time, WhatsApp service was started to redeem airline tickets with partners.
