Retail brand created Voltei, its own new channel that enables the purchase and sale of used parts to generate extra income, which can be reverted to the NGO Gerando Falcões
Pernambucanas, a pioneering national retail brand in innovation, has just launched an important initiative that reinforces its commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG). Voltei, the brand’s new channel, consists of intermediating the resale of used garments between the seller and the buyer.
With the new channel, the brand will promote conscious consumption education and contribute to the reduction of environmental impacts, reflecting positively on the social and economic aspects of society. Voltei will provide an increase in the life cycle of clothes and will also deliver a circular economy solution for customers. In addition, the initiative will enable customers to receive up to 50% of the value of each piece sold directly to their account, which can be donated. Thus, the company innovates and moves in the opposite direction to the market, offering the opportunity for extra income and not discounts or vouchers for the next purchases.
Through the company’s app, the customer accesses the Voltei option and registers the clothes, which can be from any brand and not necessarily from the retailer itself. There, he categorizes and photographs the items and has access to the prior value that will be sold on the app or website. If he prefers, he will also have the option in the app to donate part or the full amount of the sale to the NGO Gerando Falcões, a social development ecosystem that operates in favelas throughout Brazil. Then, the customer leaves his pieces with one of the store’s employees, who will check them and send them to the company’s Distribution Center, going through the washing process and minor repairs.
Voltei promotes the resale of any clothing item, whether female, male or children, except shoes and accessories. As soon as the product is sold through the retailer’s digital channels, the customer is notified by the app and receives up to 50% of the amount.
One of the differentials of the model is that it allows more than 500 Pernambucanas and fintech Pefisa, spread across the country, are clothing collection points, which brings convenience to the customer and makes the process very safe. Another important difference is that the seller can receive the amount in cash, not in the form of discounts on new parts, for example, contributing directly with an extra income. In addition, the seller can count on the 115 years of experience of a century-old retailer with extensive knowledge in sales, logistics and delivery, which enables even more security.
Another important highlight refers to the operation, fully developed by the brand, that is, structured based on the profile, behavior and needs of customers. Soon, the model will also ensure that the reduction of environmental impacts is reflected in the product delivery packaging, which will be 100% produced with recycled paper.
“We believe that retail needs to be integrated with economically viable, socially fair and environmentally correct initiatives. Voltei is yet another action in which we managed to bring sustainability to our business, through conscious consumption, aligned with our entire ecosystem, financially supporting Brazilian families, once again”, says Sergio Borriello, CEO of Pernambucanas.
Partnership with the NGO Gerando Falcões
To contribute even more to Gerando Falcões, Pernambucanas will sell garments from the NGO’s bazaar on the retailer’s website and app. The amount raised will be used for social projects that the institution promotes in the approximately 6,000 Brazilian favelas in which it operates, and a portion will cover the company’s sales and delivery costs.
In this way, Pernambucanas expands its commitment to social actions and contributes to an institution that has been fighting for 11 years to transform the reality of the country’s favelas.
“We have the mission to transform the poverty of the favela into a museum piece, before Mars was colonized, and we need a gigantic spirit of unity, in addition to the greatness of actions like this, by Pernambucanas, to annihilate an enemy of all of us and transform the reality of millions of people who are surviving in the nearly 14,000 favelas in Brazil”, highlights Edu Lyra, CEO and Founder of Gerando Falcões.
