Singer died this Monday (8), in São Paulo, and the family released the news this Tuesday.
This Monday (8), at her home in So Paulo, one of the main voices of Brazilian music died: Rita Lee. Confirmation of the death of the singer, who was fighting cancer, came through a note from the family.
“We announce the death of Rita Lee, at her residence, in São Paulo, capital, late last night, surrounded by all the love of her family, as she always wanted”, says an excerpt from the text.
Also a writer, she tells details of her musical career, talks about her time with Mutantes, the fight against alcoholism, among other passages. Launched in 2016, ‘Rita Lee: an autobiography’, which was for weeks among the best sellers in Brazil.
Rita was also involved with advertising, directly and indirectly. The singer starred in campaigns for important brands, such as Telefnica, All Star, and a film for Shell dated 1969, from the times when she was still part of Os Mutantes.
Indirectly, Rita had songs that were immortalized as soundtracks for commercials, such as Rider, in 1983, in which the singer interprets ‘Felicidade’, by Lupicnio Rodrigues.
Also for Rider, the song ‘Nem Luxo Nem Lixo’, written by Rita and Roberto de Carvalho, was sung by Marina Lima, in a clip that later turned into shorter commercials.
Recently, in 2021, Natura teamed up with Rita Lee and Tas Arajo to present a new fragrance. The campaign, created by the Gallery, proposed that women accept their beauty and imperfections. Starring the actress, the film featured the narration by Rita Lee, with excerpts from the lyrics of her song Jardins da Babilnia .
