Brought on by a group of partners and led by businesswoman Fátima Pissarra, Billboard magazine returns to offer readers the best of the country’s music scene
Music fans will have a new meeting point with their favorite artists, because the iconic Billboard magazine is back in Brazil. Entrepreneurs Fátima Pissarra, Carlos Scappini, Marcus Buaiz, Murilo Henare and Raquel and Michel Kury are responsible for bringing the vehicle, which had its last edition printed in July 2014, back to the Brazilian market.
The operation will be led by Fátima, who has eight years of experience as a VEVO representative in the country. The expectation is that, within four months, the first printed edition of the magazine will be presented to the public. The brand will also have a strong presence on digital platforms.
Fátima reveals that the initiative stemmed from the lack of having a large vehicle specialized in music in the country that also focused on real timethrough social networks, both for the brand market and for the music market, artists, managers, show producers, record labels and the chain in general.
“Billboard is already a solid brand, and we are going to make it even stronger in the Brazilian market. through our expertise in music and marketing of influence, we want to develop an innovative format, creating daring, differentiated and comprehensive projects”, he explains.
On VEVO, Fátima managed to make Brazil one of the biggest countries with recall brand in the world, being recognized for unprecedented and unusual feats, such as when they brought Demi Lovato to a Coca-Cola project, did actions with Maroon 5 and Steven Tyler for Rock in Rio and put Luan Santana inside a plane for a campaign from Gol.
With this extensive knowledge in music projects for brands, the executives intend to bring their DNA of diversity to the platform, embracing all musical genres and generating visibility for all music professionals.
“We want to bring the Billboard Music Awards to Brazil and, who knows, unite the Billboard Women in Music, which was the first award for women in music, with the WME Awards by Music2!, which was the second”, says Fátima .
With over 120 years of history, Billboard is one of the most respected and influential publications in the music business, with a fascinating track record and a reputation for journalistic excellence.
“We are excited to return to Brazil. Undoubtedly, this will be a defining moment for the Brazilian music industry, which has been gaining strength in international markets. We feel that this will be a new era of success and growth in Brazil”, comments Debashish Ghosh, from Billboard.
