Another weight partnership arriving on the market! Crunchyroll, the international brand that offers the best anime experience, and Duolingo, the world’s leading language learning platform, are teaming up to celebrate Anime, a strong element of Japanese culture, and the 6th anniversary of the platform’s Japanese course . Therefore, starting this week, the course will feature around 50 phrases inspired by popular and fan-favorite Anime series.
“Anime is a dynamic medium and we know viewers are curious to learn. Now, on Duolingo, fans around the world can celebrate Anime by learning iconic phrases from their favorite series. We also hope anime-curious students will be intrigued by their Japanese lessons on Duolingo and explore all that Anime has to offer on Crunchyroll,” says Terry Li, Senior Vice President of Emerging Business at Crunchyroll.
The global interest in language learning is heavily influenced by pop culture and social events. As Anime is one of the fastest growing entertainment categories in the world, it’s no surprise that Japanese is growing in popularity. Nearly a third (26%) of Japanese learners on Duolingo cite fun, like watching their favorite Anime shows, as their main motivation for learning the language.
“We chose to partner with the leader in Anime entertainment, Crunchyroll, to enhance our Japanese language course because we know that watching TV shows and movies in the language you are studying is a great way to learn, and we wanted to give our students a way to immerse yourself even more in the Japanese language through Anime. We hope this partnership is as enjoyable for Anime fans as it was for our learning teams, design e marketing,” said George Audi, Senior Director of Business Development at Duolingo.
