Rock lovers woke up sad today. This Wednesday (24), the genre lost Tina Turner, one of its greatest legends. The singer died at the age of 83 at her home in Küsnach, Switzerland, of natural causes, leaving an untouchable legacy for music. But, in addition to her brilliant career on stage, Tina also ventured into the advertising industry, participating in several campaigns that captivated audiences around the world. Throughout her career, Tina Turner has won over a legion of fans with her powerful voice, sweeping stage presence and infectious energy. His talent and charisma transcended borders and opened doors to opportunities beyond music, including the world of advertising and marketing. In 1988, for example, the iconic singer lent her image to the campaign to launch the All Star tennis brand in Brazil, produced by the agency Agnelo Pacheco Creation & Propaganda, with voiceover by journalist Otávio Ceschi Júnior.
The brand sponsored the “Break Every Rule World Tour”, which included two concerts by Tina in the country, at the Pacaembu (SP) and Maracanã (RJ) stadiums. The second was entitled to the drum set of the Beija-flor de Nilópolis samba school (with float and everything) and entry to the Guiness Book, the Book of Records, in the category ‘biggest audience at a paid concert by a solo artist’. Maracanã received 188,000 people for Tina’s presentation, 18,000 more than the show of singer Frank Sinatra, holder of the previous record, reached in the same stadium.
In addition to music, Tina was also passionate about cars, and starred in several commercials for Plymouth, Chrysler’s most economical brand, in the early 90’s.
The singer also declared herself a big fan of Ayrton Senna during the commemorative show of the Australian Grand Prix, in 1993. hit “The Best” (“O Melhor”, in the English translation) to the pilot, stating that when he met Senna personally, he felt that he personified the song.
The recording of a Pepsi commercial with actor and singer Evandro Mesquita, in 1991, is also on the list of curiosities of the singer. The duo filmed in Hollywood, in the same studio where the classic “E o Vento Levou” was shot, in 1939.
