Director and screenwriter Bong Joon-Ho, a recent Oscar winner for Best Picture for the critically acclaimed “Parasite,” is planning a new project for Warner Bross. Possibly an adaptation of the science book Mickey7, the filmmaker reportedly wants actor Robert Pattinson in the cast.
Written by Edward Ashton, the book tells the story of an ordinary employee, considered “expendable”, who participates in an expedition to colonize an ice world called Nifheim. During the story, the clerk fights for his clone, named Mickey7, not to take his place.
Still, according to the American entertainment magazine Variety, it’s unknown how much Bong Joon-Ho plans to keep the original story from the book in his adaptation, especially considering that the work won’t be published until February.
On the other hand, it is almost certain that the director wants Robert Pattinson in the main role of the film. The name of the British actor has recently been on the rise for his upcoming film: The Batman. In the film, Pattinson will play Batman himself.
This is Joon-ho’s second production in partnership with Warner Bros. In addition to the film, a series inspired by the movie Parasite is also being developed and should be made available through HBO Max, the studio’s own streaming service.
Although there is a basis for what Bong Joon-ho’s new project is, there is still no title or release date for the feature, which would be his first after the success of Parasite. In addition to the adaptation of Mickey7, the director is also on a project for an animation made entirely in CGI.
