The Converse x FRGMT Weapon has been reimagined to unite streetwear and the silhouette of traditional basketball shoes in royal blue and black
Converse announced the relaunch of the Weapon model, in partnership with Japanese musician, producer and designer of Fragment, Hiroshi Fujiwara.
The first sneaker model was presented in 1986 and went out of circulation two years later, in 1988. Now, the model has been revamped to combine streetwear and the silhouette of traditional basketball sneakers in royal blue and black.
With a leather-structured upper, the eye-catching Converse x FRGMT Weapon colorway is overlaid with a Y-element at the ankle, and the Star Chevron logo follows on the side as usual. The Fujiwara brand logo is also stamped on the side of the heel, standing out as a discreet signature of the designer.
“I was looking for a Converse model to work on a new project when I came across the Weapon and thought it was a good fit. It’s a classic model that was part of my childhood. I thought about adding blocks of different colors to it, but ended up opting for the current design to honor the iconic side of this shoe,” said Fujiwara.
