YouTube released this week the YouTube Cannes Ads Leaderboard, the new annual list of the 10 most viewed global campaigns on the platform since the last edition of the Cannes Film Festival. The ads together total over 213 million views, 2.5 million likes and 70,000 comments.
The most viewed campaign in the last year is a prank recorded in New York promoting the Netflix series ‘Wandinha’, which in just six months has more than 39 million views. Interestingly, 5 of the top 10 ads of the year were released just six months ago or less.
The list also features the first campaign in the YouTube Shorts format: the ‘Peacock’ ad featuring Kevin Hart, Mark Walhberg and Don Cheadle, which, at 20 seconds in length, ranked 9th, but generated the most likes, with an impressive 540 thousand The campaign that received the most comments was the trailer oficial that promotes the HBO Max series ‘The Last of Us’, with around 26 thousand.
Additionally, Telecom Egypt is the first advertiser in the Middle East to appear twice on the YouTube Global Ads Leaderboard list in one year.
“This year’s Cannes Ads Leaderboard is full of creative ads that exemplify how YouTube enables brands to use multiple formats. There is incredible diversity in terms of cultural and generational representation, as well as production styles and approaches to storytelling. Collectively, they promote a great celebration of creativity, and the viewership numbers are a testament to how that creativity connects with people,” comments Sunny Kwok, Director of YouTube Creative Works.
The platform helps advertisers reach consumers, increasing brand awareness and driving measurable results at scale. Today, companies are adopting a multi-format strategy as, in addition to the long format, Vertical Shorts ads are proven to be an effective way for campaigns to stand out on YouTube.
