The Gerety Awards, a creative award that brings together an all-female jury to select the best in advertising from a powerful perspective, reveals the global shortlist along with agency and producer of the year, by country title. The campaigns ‘Buscapé’, ‘Back To The City of God’ for Telefone Vivo and Motorola, and ‘Sorriso’, for Colgate-Palmolive of VMLY&R were selected in the Entertainment and Media Cut, respectively, and ‘Orgasm Day’ for Quem Disse, Berenice?. ‘Panty Nova’ by W3haus was a finalist in the Health and Innovation Cuts.
India Executive Jury Member Mahima Mathur, Creative Director of DDB Mudra Group, says the Gerety Awards are of utmost importance to awards organizers who think that putting just one or two women on jury panels in order to mark the Diversity is a job well done.
“Having more women on the jury is not only about filling the visibility gap in the industry, but also about judging the best publicity that appeals to society as a whole. Because, let’s face it, there’s no one who better understands the power of authentic advertising that truly resonates with all audiences than a bunch of women who have been given tired stereotypes and clichés. Which means you have to be really good to win the Gerety trophy,” she comments.
In-person judging sessions have been held around the world, and this week, you can watch live jury briefing panels from Romania, UK, US, Colombia, Spain, Sweden, UAE, India and New Zealand. A total of 325 entries were selected from 42 different countries.
