For the third consecutive year, SBT News has remained the most trusted journalism brand in Brazil. Released last week by the Digital News Report 2023, the data is part of the survey by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, and pointed out that 61% of respondents trust the news published on the portal. Among the online content are SBT Brasil productions and other journalism products from the station.
“SBT’s journalism has its credibility recognized by the public that consumes news for the third year in a row. It is a daily construction in the challenge of offering useful content, which translates and gives meaning to the facts that happen in Brazil and in the world. The idea is to be ever closer to those who consume our news. Therefore, we created the app so that our viewers can access accurate and high-quality news for free”, highlights SBT’s Journalism Integration and Planning manager, Rodrigo Hornhardt.
According to the study, the highly polarized presidential elections in 2022, followed by acts of vandalism in Brasília (DF), in January of this year, may have damaged Brazilians’ confidence in the news, which fell from 54% to 48% in the last year.
The research also shows that audiences for traditional media such as TV and print media have declined significantly over the past decade, while traffic to websites and social media has remained relatively stable. Despite this, SBT is the third most cited vehicle among TVs, radios and print media.
SBT News on TV airs daily, at dawn: during the week, right after ‘Operação Mesquita’; on Saturdays, after ‘Impressive News’; and on Sundays, after ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Law & Disorder’.
