Committed to contributing to the decarbonization of the planet, CNN Brasil now has a fleet of 100% electric vehicles. The partnership with General Motors makes the journalism brand the first in Brazil to circulate on the streets with fully sustainable cars with zero emission of pollutants.
The external teams (reporters and cameramen) covering the daily coverage in the squares of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Brasília will have the Bolt EV model, the automaker’s new electric vehicle, available, which will circulate enveloped with the CNN Brasil logo.
“This unprecedented project highlights CNN Brasil’s extensive capacity to establish commercial partnerships that go far beyond traditional formats. Our objective is to deliver relevance and adherence to the purpose of each brand”, reinforces Maurício Kotait, Commercial Vice President of CNN Brasil.
The Chevrolet Bolt EV models are equipped with connectivity devices, which will ensure even more agility in the exchange of information between the journalism units and the newsrooms of CNN Brasil.
“When a broadcaster of the size and relevance of CNN Brasil decides to have electric cars in its fleet, it is an important signal both from the point of view of its contribution to the decarbonization of the planet and its reach and influence in our society, in the sense of helping to make everyone aware of the urgency of adhering to sustainable mobility solutions”, says Fabio Rua, vice president of Government Relations, Communication and ESG at General Motors América do Sul.
The number of hybrid and electric vehicles surpassed the mark of 100,000 units in circulation in Brazil, according to data from the Brazilian Association of Electric Vehicles (ABVE). This year, registrations of electrified vehicles in Brazil were 31% higher than in the first seven months of last year.
The most successful global zero-emission model of the Chevrolet brand, the Bolt EV offers modern design, refined interior, safety equipment, comfort and connectivity. Another highlight is its propulsion and battery assembly, with impressive numbers, such as the 459 km of autonomy in the WLTP cycle (or 416 km in the EPA cycle). The car also features the One Pedal driving system and regenerative brakes, which reuse part of the energy generated when braking to return it to the car’s batteries. All this without mentioning, of course, sustainability.
“GM has a vision of the future of zero accidents, zero carbon emissions and zero congestion, which necessarily involves the sustainability of our products and operations. Electric cars, such as the Chevrolet Bolt EV, are the only ones that do not emit any polluting gas, and therefore are completely sustainable”, adds Fabio Rua.
Innovation also in programming
Changes continue to be announced in the broadcaster’s schedule as well. In addition to the departure of journalist Daniela Lima, announced last week, CNN Brasil recently announced a partnership with Fabíola Kassin, a digital fashion and beauty influencer, for the production of multiplatform content.

“The CNN Lifestyle section puts us on the radar of an attentive and demanding audience, which consumes fashion, beauty, well-being, decor and lifestyle without compromising legitimacy, quality and relevance. That is why the partnership with Fabiola, a reference of authenticity in these territories”, reinforces Virgílio Abranches, vice president of Content and Operations at CNN Brasil.
