Executive left the institution in April this year and, in her place, took over Juliana Albuquerque
Conar’s Ethics Council paid tribute to Edney Narchi, who retired after 38 years of serving Brazilian advertising self-regulation. More than 80 people, including directors, members of the board of directors and members of Conar’s founding entities and guests, were present at the session.
Narchi announced his departure from Conar in April of this year; in his place, Juliana Albuquerque took over, who became the leader of Conar’s technical and administrative staff.
Graduated in 1972 from the Faculty of Law of Largo de So Francisco, Edney joined Conar as its executive director in 1985, replacing Gilberto C. Leifert. Previously, he was head of the Office of the Legal Affairs Secretariat of the City of São Paulo and director of the Advisory Office for Government Relations of the Federation of Commerce of the State of So Paulo.
In his years as Conar’s main executive (he became executive vice-president in 2008), Edney responded to six presidents, starting with Petrnio Corra, passing through three headquarters of the entity, countless reforms of the Brazilian Advertising Self-Regulation Code, hundreds of participation in dialogues with authorities and the advertising market, in Brazil and abroad. His successor in office is Juliana Albuquerque, who worked with him for over twenty years.
Conar owes a lot to Edney, said Sergio Pompilio, president of Conar. After all, we are talking about someone who was present at the judgment sessions of something close to ten thousand representations and note the importance of this: we barely surpassed the eleven thousand representations opened by Conar in its entire history.
