Study also showed the preferred platforms of Brazilian gamers
The Game Brazil Survey (PGB) showed that 70.1% of Brazilians play electronic games. In knowledge, eSports grew 1.7 percentage points compared to PGB 2022, now registering 82.9% awareness among gamers in Brazil.
In addition, 48.8% of the public that consumes games plays electronic sports, a habit that has remained stable compared to the last edition of the survey (48.7%).
Following or watching eSports is another behavior that has remained stable among Brazilian gamers. According to the PGB 2023, 63.8% have this habit, an increase of 0.6 percentage points in relation to the previous edition of the survey. Most of these (39.2%) watch videos or read about the modality from 1 to 3 hours a week.
The frequency of content consumption is, for most gamers (26.5%), twice a week, while 26.1% consume it three times a week and 18.2% daily. Only 10.5% of respondents consume eSports content less than once a week, while 1.1% say they do not consume content.
According to the new PGB 2023 panel, 74.6% of the Brazilian gamer public keeps itself informed about eSports competitions through specialized channels. The data is well above those who follow the segment through the channels of teams and athletes (36.8%) and eSports celebrities (36.1%).
The preferred content format for gamers in Brazil to follow the modality is live or recorded online matches (79.7%), followed by online news (61.8%) and, finally, in person in tournament arenas, event spaces and in the eSports clubs themselves (50.2%).
In the digital environment, the main platform for consuming eSports content is YouTube (72.5%), followed by the SporTV channel (40.2%) and Instagram (38.9%).
