In June 2022, Misses At Work, a female collective of professionals in the communication and advertising markets, launched Misses@Jobs, a platform to expand its mission to empower and create more opportunities for women in the sector.
With almost 12,000 vacancies published in the period, which represents an average of 50 vacancies curated and published daily in an exclusive group for women, the platform aggregates more than 600 participants on WhatsApp. Vacancies are also published on the collective’s website, where the base is open to anyone who wants to access it.
After a year of existence, Misses@Jobs is in the process of expanding to serve more women and strengthen the hope of outplacement at a time when the female condition remains in disparity, despite many advances. About 70% of dismissals in the last year, the famous lay-offsreached women.
According to an internal survey, the most sought after positions are in the areas of Sales, followed by Marketing, Media, Customer Service and Planning, with great emphasis on how these women see themselves as “experienced and competent professionals in what they do, and highly available to show its value”. More than 80% of respondents defined themselves as seniors, and only 20% as full and juniors.
Another interesting piece of data, regarding the search for a career transition, points out that 45% of the respondents have a latent desire to migrate from the Media area to the Marketing areas, with emphasis on multinational companies and large companies, demonstrating the lack of structure and valuation, and absence of ESG processes, in communication vehicles and advertising agencies. Only 9% expressed willingness to undertake.
In the recent consultation, 20% of the participants were able to relocate themselves through Misses@Jobs, and almost all of them are satisfied with the platform and quality of vacancies. However, the number of interviews does not seem to correspond with the number of vacancies offered.
“I believe that many vacancies are advertised only on a pro-forma basis, with no real objective of hiring”, reports one of the research participants, in a statement.
beyond the spin-off Misses@Jobs, Misses At Work, founded in 2018, has entertainment and circular economy groups, but is mostly dedicated to the networking and exchanges of professional indications, with a strong stimulus of support and acceptance.
“Research has helped us curate and provided valuable inputs to seek more partnerships and opportunities. In recent months, we managed to bring in more collaborators to enrich the volume of jobs mapped, but the lack of affirmative jobs we found is surprising”, says Kelly Fray, partner and creator of Misses@Jobs.
Squad@Jobs is made up of five more misses who do a mapping of positions, and an intern, allocated for publication and dissemination.
“Expanding our initiative to reach more professionals is a way of sharing the benefits we generate within our own community, which is made up of real women in the market, and we are more ambitious every day, having signed partnerships never imagined with this year’s Digitalks, with friends from the Market and with Adnews itself”, completes Dani Mozer, co-founder of the collective and entrepreneur in her adtech.
Misses At Work celebrates its success in supporting professional women, promoting equal opportunity and providing valuable resources to those who need it most. The group will continue its hard and dedicated work, seeking to create a more inclusive and equitable environment for all professionals, in this union of forces to create something extraordinary and unprecedented for the career environment and the broad female journey.
