The Japanese community that lives and frequents the neighborhood of Liberdade, in São Paulo (SP), won a tribute in the form of a McDonald’s! Arcos Dorados, the franchise that manages the fast food in Latin America and the Caribbean, opened a new unit in the neighborhood that is considered the largest Japanese stronghold outside Japan.
The surprises already start on the restaurant’s façade. Inspired by icons of Japanese architecture, it receives ideograms with the signature of the ‘McDonald’s’ brand and welcomes customers with an instagrammable lamp that mixes the chain’s logo with the traditional lanterns of oriental culture.
The interior decoration was completely designed for the comfort of customers, with soft sofas and pleasant lighting.
Those who prefer the outdoor area for their meals can contemplate a true Japanese garden, which has a small cherry tree (a symbol of love, renewal, hope and happiness) and a graffiti that depicts cultural symbols, such as lanterns and O Breaktraditional Japanese gate.
“At Arcos Dorados, we have a deep connection with our customers and the communities in which we are present, so, in this new unit, our goal was to honor Japanese culture and genuinely connect with the region. Now, residents and regulars at Liberdade will be able to count on McDonald’s for the various consumption occasions during the day, whether for breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack or dinner”, celebrates Ricardo Guedes, Vice President of Operations for the Brazil Division of Golden Arches.
In addition to all these experiences, the new unit is also technological, offering different service options so that customers can choose how they want to place their orders: on self-service screens, with menu digital, by app with the Order and Collect service, or directly at the counter. The new themed McDonald’s unit is open every day from 8am to 9pm.
Arcos Dorados is the largest independent McDonald’s franchise in the world, and the largest quick service food chain in Latin America and the Caribbean. The company has exclusive rights to own, operate and franchise local McDonald’s restaurants in 20 countries and territories in these regions. Currently, the chain has more than 2,300 restaurants, including owned and franchised units, which together employ more than 95,000 employees. The company also uses its ESG platform, Recipe of the Future, to positively impact the communities where it operates.
