To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Brazil’s most beloved toothy and its gang, a partnership between GOL, Brazil’s largest airline, and Mauricio de Sousa Produções (MSP), takes off with the action ‘Coelhadas no Ar’. A fully adhesive Boeing 737-800, internally and externally, with brand new artwork created exclusively by MSP in celebration of Mônica’s 60th birthday, a character who won millions of fans around the world.
GOL, which was born with the mission of democratizing transport in Brazil, and is proud to be “The First for All”, believes that tourism transforms people and that flying is a magical experience. Therefore, in addition to promoting tourism, the Company seeks to encourage diversity and socialization through actions that value the connection with Brazil and everything it represents. The union between two completely Brazilian companies, in the ‘Mônica 60’ project, is a powerful example of how this is possible.
Over the generations, many Brazilians grew up reading the captivating stories of Turma da Mônica, with the comics that played a fundamental role in the literacy of millions of children and helped them to take their first steps in reading.

Over the years, GOL has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to promoting events and activities that are in line with Brazilian culture. We continue to invest in sponsorships and activations aimed at promoting sport and culture, and one of the major new projects is the partnership with Mauricio de Sousa Produções (MSP) with “Mônica 60”.

The themed Boeing 737-800 was unveiled last Sunday (16th), in an exclusive event at Confins airport (CNF) and today took a direct flight to Congonhas (CGH) for another major event celebrating Mônica’s 60th birthday, bringing delighted passengers throughout the journey, who received gifts, as well as special messages and on-board service. In Confins, the BH Airport concessionaire collaborated with the organization and security of the event.
On the outside, there is an exclusive artwork of Mônica created by MSP with the theme “Mônica 60”. As for internal customization, the whole gang is preparing a surprise party for Mônica, with the characters hidden among the luggage racks. In addition, the aircraft’s information boards also received new elements, to make everything look like the gang from the Limoeiro neighborhood. This is another high point of synergy. Through the GOL Institute, the Company has dedicated more than a decade to supporting social projects in Brazil, with a focus on actions aimed at education. The Company firmly believes that it is through quality education for all, current and future generations, that it will be possible to build the strong country that we all aspire to.
The aircraft celebrating Mônica’s 60th birthday will not have a specific route. The idea is for it to land and take off at most of our 75 bases in Brazil and Latin America for a year. The Company wants as many Customers as possible to be enchanted by the experience of traveling on a themed plane as special as this one. GOL operates an average of 650 daily flights. There are more than 25 million passengers transported per year by 180 national and international routes.
“This is the most customized aircraft we have ever built, both internally and externally – in every corner there is a surprise, a discovery, a message that connects the world of Turma da Mônica with the world of aviation. Being together in an action with another totally national company, which has so much meaning for Brazil and for Brazilians, is an immense pride. The partnership between GOL and MSP will include other actions to commemorate the character’s 60th birthday. The second phase is already being programmed and will be announced in due course. Omnipresent, the protagonist of most of Mauricio de Sousa’s stories will feature special celebrations until March 2024, in arts, fashion, products, face-to-face events, thematic spaces, special publications and audiovisual content. Activations will be held in different regions of Brazil so that no fan from the Limoeiro neighborhood is left out of this great party.

At the event in Congonhas, São Paulo, the surprise moment was Mauricio de Sousa appearing at the party and literally signing the aircraft, in an unprecedented and surprising image of an artist finishing his work. When boarding through the front left door, all passengers will be able to see the iconic signature on the right side of the entrance.
All external adhesives were produced by an approved supplier specialized in aeronautical adhesives, and their application took about three days. The internal adhesive was made at GOL Aerotech, the Company’s maintenance and painting unit located in Confins. The total painting and gluing process took 10 days to complete.
The conception of the idea was carried out in partnership between GOL, MSP and Innova AATB, the communication agency responsible for the connection between the companies and the creator of part of Mônica’s 60th anniversary actions, together with Mauricio de Sousa Produções. For this action, GOL also had exclusive partners who embarked on the project offering their licensed products, such as Kibon, Adijomar, Amigos do Bem, Xalingo, Panini, Baby Brinks, Casa Suiza, Dr. Peanut, Lyke and Life Mix.
