After Daniela Lima resigned, CNN Brasil suffered a new embezzlement. The vice-president of Journalism, Leandro Cipoloni, terminated his contract with the broadcaster earlier this week. According to the Notícias da TV portal, the channel explained internally, in a note, that the decision was taken “in a friendly way” and that the professional himself chose to resign.
Main executive of the channel’s Journalism, Cipoloni was hired in 2019 with the responsibility of planning the entire journalistic structure of CNN on Brazilian soil. He will be temporarily replaced by Virgílio Abranches, Vice President of Content and Operations, who will accumulate both functions.
To friends, the executive would have claimed to be very tired, because he had not taken a vacation since the station’s debut in Brazil, in March 2020, and he still worked every weekend. The stressful routine would be harming his health.
Backstage at CNN, other reasons are pointed out for Cipoloni’s departure, mainly the fact that he did not reach certain audience results, such as surpassing Jovem Pan News. The executive also distributed a note internally, announcing his departure from the station, which you can see below.
“The creation and consolidation of the project (CNN) provided me with enormous learning and professional achievement, in addition to the privilege of working with a fabulous team of great journalists and friends for life. I understand that the cycle is complete. To Rubens Menin (controller of CNN Brasil), João Camargo and CNN Internacional, my enormous gratitude for their trust in all these years, and for giving me complete freedom to practice non-partisan, critical and independent journalism”, evaluated the journalist.
With more than 15 years of experience, Cipoloni also worked at Record as Director of Management in Journalism, before being hired by CNN Brasil. He started out as a reporter and policy editor at Grupo Estado, a media conglomerate that includes the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo, Agência Estado, Eldorado FM and Gravadora Eldorado.
New embezzlement
Cipoloni’s resignation came almost a month after Daniela Lima left. Considered the main presenter of CNN Brasil, the journalist left the company on June 22 to join the team hired by GloboNews.
On her Twitter account, the presenter announced her departure, thanking the news channel for learning and celebrating the new challenge.
“To everyone who helped me, over more than three years, to bring CNN 360º to the air, my most absolute ‘thank you’. To the cameras, editors, analysts, presenters and the switcher, you changed my life. I love forever. Long live the new!”, celebrated the journalist.
