Little owl mascot of the app was at the premiere of the feature in Los Angeles
The long-awaited Barbie movie premiered in theaters last Thursday, July 20, and Duolingo didn’t miss the opportunity and also delved into the pink universe of the iconic doll.
Duo, Duolingo’s little owl mascot, invaded Avenida Paulista last weekend, this time inside the famous doll’s box, to publicize the launch of the film and, of course, demand lessons from students who passed through the place. Another activation around the feature is the partnership with influencer Filipe DMB, known for customizing and restoring Barbies, who will build a Duolingo doll, Barbielingo.
In addition, the Duo also attended the film’s premiere in Los Angeles earlier this month, dressed as Barbie and walking the pink carpet, and an ad for the app inspired by the film will be shown in US theaters in the coming weeks. All this to promote Duolingo’s participation in “Barbie”, in which the famous sound of the app’s lessons can be heard in one of the scenes.
“The Duo is known for being present everywhere demanding the students’ lessons, always with a lot of fun, including in the main moments of pop culture. That’s why we took advantage of our participation in the most talked about movie of recent times to bring the app to the world of Barbie, with local activations in which Brazilian students could interact with the Duo and check out our version of the doll.”, says Analigia Martins, Duolingo’s marketing director in Brazil.
